CA SAYS ITS FOUNDER AIDED FRAUD
“Charles Wang, former Chairman of Computer Associates, oversaw an accounting fraud lasting more than a decade at the software company. Mr. Wang created a “culture of fear” at Computer Associates. “Fraud pervaded the entire CA organization at every level and was embedded in CA’s culture, as instilled by Mr. Wang.”
EXECUTIVE PAY:IT PAID TO CHEAT
Chief Executive Charles Wang was the #1 earner on FORBES’ list in 2000 for pulling in a total of $650 million of which all but $1 million was performance-based pay. But accounting problems began to surface and Wang was booted from his post in 2000.”
CA LITIGATION COMMITTEE REPORT
“Wang missed no opportunity to enrich himself at CA’s expense.”
The company Wang co-founded, Computer Associates, accused him of orchestrating a massive, $2+ billion-dollar accounting fraud which the U.S. Attorney’s Office described as “the most brazen and most comprehensive obstruction that we’ve witnessed in recent history.”

After working together for 23 years, Charles Wang betrayed me. When I left for a 3-week trip to India to visit Smile Train partner hospitals, Wang launched his successful takeover of the charity we co-founded: Smile Train.

After filling the Smile Train Board with his personal employees, Wang forced me and my management team out of the charity we had just spent 11 years building.

A few months later, Wang tried to close down Smile Train with a merger with Operation Smile he secretly negotiated without the Smile Train Board’s knowledge or permission.

This merger would have given Operation Smile $50 million of Smile Train’s donations (to look the other way) and Wang personal control of $150 million of Smile Train’s surplus of unused donations.
It was “The Great Train Robbery.”

When thousands of angry Smile Train donors signed an online petition, scathing news articles appeared and every independent Smile Train director went to the New York State AG demanding an investigation, Wang cancelled his merger.

And blamed me. He told the Smile Train staff he was going to destroy me and anyone who didn’t “have the stomach for it” should resign.
And that’s exactly what he did.

Staring in 2010 and continuing to this day in January of 2020, Wang’s lawyers sued -and threatened to sue – me, my co-workers, directors, partners, vendors and auditors in New York State Court, Federal Court, The High Court of Justice in the U.K., Federal Arbitration and Federal Bankruptcy Court.
Wang’s lawyers threatened to sue and forced all of my charity’s biggest vendors to quit.

They created fake websites with my name and disseminated thousands of pages of negative content about me on the internet.

They threatened to sue and destroy a book publisher that was publishing a book about Smile Train and WonderWork that I had spent years writing.

And they asked a British judge for a ruling that would let them seize my family’s home.
For all of their lawsuits, threats, bullying and dirty tricks, Wang’s lawyers were paid more than $25 million dollars. But not by Wang.
He arranged for charities to pay 100% of his lawyers’ $25 million in fees.
You will find details on every lawsuit, threat and dirty trick that Wang’s lawyers were responsible for in this section.
